Pastel Paintings by Laurie Harden

Early in the summer of 2013 I posed for illustrator Laurie Harden in her private studio. For hours she photographed me in vintage clothes and Japanese kimonos. The photographs were to serve as reference material for her pastel paintings. Laurie used both 35mm film and digital photography to capture my poses. Below you will find three of the paintings from our shoot.

Laurie Harden teaches art classes in many locations in northern New Jersey including Livingston, Morristown, and Boonton. She also teaches privately and is available for private commissions. For more information or to contact Laurie Harden visit her website http://www.laurieharden-us.com

Alternative Modeling Set

you can view the set here

Over the years I have worked creatively with artist Gregory Kahofer on a number of interesting projects. The first was crafting a crin cyberlox wig for him to use as a prop in his photography. I was always a fan of Kahofer's creations and well as him as a person. When he heard I started modeling, it wasn't long before we worked together. I pose for fine art, private commissions, open studios, and art classes. Art modeling is a completely different world than that of photography modeling. I always jump at an opportunity to work with Kahofer and was thrilled that he wanted to use me in his art. The first time I posed for him, I was very nervous in front of the camera. Like I said, it is completely different from posing for fine art and that is where my experience is.

In August 2012 Kahofer was visiting New Jersey for just a few days and wanted to make some art. I came up with two locations that I thought he would like. We packed a bunch of costumes (and about a million accessories) into my car and started our adventure. These photos are from the Paulinskill Viaduct. If you are unfamiliar with this structure, it is an abandoned train bridge that was once part of the Lackawanna cutoff railroad, which opened in 1911.

Kahofer's early work was intended to be printed as poster sized images. It has since evolved into may different forms. Most of these images are heavily edited. This is not the end point of what they will become. These images were sent to me as is for my portfolio. It would be impossible and unfair for me to try to explain Kahofer's idea for his work so I will leave you with links to videos of his. The images are edited numerous times to almost animate them with color changes and transitions. I am excited to see what my images become.

Portrait Painting Added to My Portfolio

For the past three weeks, I have been posing at The Center For Contemporary Art for an open portrait studio. This one is by Cecilly Sullivan. While sitting there perfectly still for hours, I had many wonderful conversations with the artists. It was a pleasure to work with The Center and I can't wait to return! Hopefully I will have more photos of finished work to share soon.
